USCG Exam Practice · Applying tide corrections to charted depth
Under 33 CFR §164.33, what does the term 'currently corrected' mean as applied to charts?
- ACorrected within the past 12 months by any available source
- BCorrected with changes from all NGA Notices to Mariners reasonably available to the vessel and applicable to the transit✓ correct
- CCorrected with changes from the most recent annual NOS chart edition
- DCorrected with changes from the applicable U.S. Coast Pilot only
Why B is correct
33 CFR §164.33(c) defines 'currently corrected' as corrected with changes contained in all Notices to Mariners published by the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, or an equivalent foreign government publication, reasonably available to the vessel and applicable to the transit. A time-based standard or reliance on the Coast Pilot alone does not satisfy this definition.
