USCG Exam Practice · Applying tide corrections to charted depth

Under 33 CFR §164.33, what does the term 'currently corrected' mean as applied to charts?

  1. ACorrected within the past 12 months by any available source
  2. BCorrected with changes from all NGA Notices to Mariners reasonably available to the vessel and applicable to the transit✓ correct
  3. CCorrected with changes from the most recent annual NOS chart edition
  4. DCorrected with changes from the applicable U.S. Coast Pilot only

Why B is correct

33 CFR §164.33(c) defines 'currently corrected' as corrected with changes contained in all Notices to Mariners published by the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, or an equivalent foreign government publication, reasonably available to the vessel and applicable to the transit. A time-based standard or reliance on the Coast Pilot alone does not satisfy this definition.
