The exam is identical at every centre

A captain’s licence is issued by the U.S. Coast Guard, not by a state, and it is valid in all fifty. Nothing about the questions, the pass marks or the modules changes with the address. If a centre further away has a shorter appointment queue, take it.

Government photo ID — a driving licence or passport, not a copy
Your Approval to Test letter from the NMC, inside its 12-month window
TWIC card if your credential requires one
A non-programmable calculator and dividers for Chart Plotting
Payment for any module you are re-sitting
