USCG Exam Practice · Rule 26 — Fishing Vessels (lights)
A trawler is fishing in close proximity to other vessels and is in the process of hauling her nets. Which optional additional signal lights may she exhibit under Rule 26(f)?
- ATwo white lights in a vertical line
- BTwo red lights in a vertical line
- COne white light over one red light in a vertical line✓ correct
- DTwo yellow lights flashing alternately
Why C is correct
33 CFR §83.26(f)(ii)(1)(B) specifies that when hauling their nets, trawlers fishing in close proximity may exhibit one white light over one red light in a vertical line. Two white lights indicate shooting nets; two red lights indicate a net fast upon an obstruction. Alternating yellow lights apply to purse seine vessels.
