An inconspicuous, partly submerged object being towed is less than 25 meters in breadth and exceeds 100 meters in length. Which lights are required on that object?
- AOne all-round white light at or near each end, with additional all-round white lights so that spacing does not exceed 100 meters, and a diamond shape at or near the aftermost extremity✓ correct
- BFour all-round white lights to mark its length and breadth, and a diamond shape at or near the aftermost extremity
- CSidelights and a sternlight, with a diamond shape when tow length exceeds 200 meters
- DOne all-round white light at or near each end only
Why A is correct
33 CFR §83.24(g)(i) requires one all-round white light at or near each end for an inconspicuous towed object less than 25 meters in breadth. §83.24(g)(iii) adds that if the object exceeds 100 meters in length, additional all-round white lights must be placed between the end lights so spacing does not exceed 100 meters. §83.24(g)(iv) requires a diamond shape at or near the aftermost extremity.
