- B. Lubricate the wire at the cut point to ease strand separation
- C. Unlay the strands one lay length back from the cut
- D. Inspect for broken wires within one lay length of the cut
Why A is correct
Both NAVEDTRA 14067 §3-4 and NAVEDTRA 14343 §8-1 specify that seizings must be applied on both sides of the cut before cutting wire rope so the strands cannot fly apart or unlay.
