USCG Exam PracticeRule 10 — Traffic Separation Schemes

  1. A. Only from the separation zone side of the lane
  2. At the termination of the lane, or when joining or leaving from either side at as small an angle to the general direction of traffic flow as practicableCorrect
  3. C. At any point, provided she crosses at right angles to the traffic flow
  4. D. Only at designated waypoints published in the Light List

Why B is correct

33 CFR §83.10(b)(iii) states a vessel shall normally join or leave a traffic lane at the termination of the lane, but when joining or leaving from either side shall do so at as small an angle to the general direction of traffic flow as practicable. Crossing at right angles applies to crossing lanes, not joining or leaving them.
