A danger bearing is drawn from a charted object to the edge of an off-lying hazard and labelled 'NLT 045°T'. To remain in safe water, the observed bearing to that object must be:
- ✓ Not less than 045°TCorrect
- B. Not more than 045°T
- C. Exactly 045°T
- D. Not less than 225°T
Why A is correct
The label NLT (not less than) defines the safe side of the danger bearing. So long as the observed bearing remains not less than 045°T, the vessel stays in safe water clear of the hazard. Bowditch Ch. 7 §706 defines both NMT and NLT labelling conventions.
